Launched in January 2008, the mission of smartBridges Foundation (sB Foundation) is to bridge the digital divide by funding and deploying wireless infrastructure in rural areas and emerging nations.
 Through collaboration with government organizations, charitable foundations, and private companies, sB Foundation develops affordable strategies to bring Internet connectivity to rural areas around the world. By unwiring remote hospitals, businesses, and educational institutions, a world of opportunity is created in which people can use the simplicity of the Internet to explore, learn, and grow.
Building a global awareness of the Digital Divide
A “Digital Divide” is defined in several different ways by different organizations for different purposes. Several organizations are dedicated to developing low cost devices such as computers, PDAs, mobile phones, etc, however, we believe that such devices can only be fully utilized if a mode of connectivity exists. There are simply insufficient access networks for such devices.
sB Foundation understands the cost behind deploying such infrastructures, and therefore has dedicated every effort into developing and manufacturing cost-efficient and high-reliability solutions that allow businesses to achieve the quickest return-on-investment while simultaneously bridging the digital divide.

By offering connectivity in rural areas, students have greater access to the information superhighway which offers access to a diverse range of subjects.
