Wireless Communication for Yemen's Largest Flour Factory Network

YCFMS improves effeciency and lowers cost through a wireless network to cover its factories at Hodaydah

Yemen Co. for Flour Mills & Silos (YCFMS) is engaged in the production of wheat Flour and other allied products and is part of the pioneer industrial and trading group – Hayel Saeed Anam Group of Cos., a multi-million dollar conglomerate in Yemen.

YCFMS is located at the port city of Al Hodaydah, an important maritime business centre. Since its inception, the ISO certified YCFMS holds the enviable position of being Yemen's largest flour production company.

With a strong regional presence, YCFMS finds its products in high demand and is hence expanding its production capacity at an increasing pace.

However with additional factories and production facilities in place, there was an additional demand for communication infrastructure. In case of their Al Hodydah plant, YCFMS needed to connect 10-12 different factory buildings. The only problem was that there was constant digging with new construction coming up very frequently.

Sameer Saeed, the GM of YCFMS also runs a sister concern Bilquistech, a system integrator dealing with wireless equipment with smartBridges as one of his first partners.

Sameer took it upon himself to build a seamless communication network that would

• Allow flexibility and scalability to accommodate new buildings and additional demands on the existing infrastructure.
• Built concurrently as the factory buildings were being constructed and undisturbed by new construction (unaffected by trench works).
• Withstand the harsh weather conditions (high temperatures, humidity and dust storms).
• Easy to install, use and troubleshoot.
• Do away with dependence on the local low bandwidth dialup connection.

For factory plan spread over an area of around 100 sq km, it would mean even more challenges.
