The antenna is constructed using a unique wire element structure suspended above a back plate reflector. The wire elements are suspended in air resulting in higher efficiencies and less loss than typical panel antennas which are constructed of a PCB material. This means that for a given antenna size the suspended wire elements utilized in the TOTAL products will provide higher gain than the competing technologies. The wire elements are also immune to the kinds of dielectric changes experienced when antennas made from PCB material are exposed to moisture. This results in improved performance stability over time and over various operating conditions. The wire element structure is also more cost effective than a typical PCB antenna of the same size because of the high processing and material cost of the Printed Circuit Board. The wire element antenna offers high gain and tight beam widths in a compact package less than 7 inches square. Horizontal and Vertical polarity performance is balanced to offer the user more installation flexibility. Good front to back and cross pole rejection performance assures good bit error rates even in noisy environments. |
