sB3216 [5.1 - 5.9 GHz] U-NII 1,2,3 and ISM Bands

Product Overview

The airPoint™ is a Provider’s Edge solution, designed specifically for communication service providers to establish large, scalable and cost effective Radio Access Networks capable of delivering IP based data, voice and video services. The airPoint™ creates a new benchmark for wireless equipment by leveraging smartBridges’ 3rd generation Wireless Nexus platform based on state-of-the-art Near Line of Sight (NrLOS) COFDM wireless technology and advanced networking layer 2/3 capabilities.

The airPoint can operate in the 2.4 GHz and 5.1 to 5.8 GHz range and support the Wi-Fi® bands. The airPoint supports both Point-to-Multipoint (PtMP) and Point-to-Point (PtP) wireless broadband applications. Advanced RF interference mitigation, resistance to multi-path delays, advanced networking and management features of airPoint help realize affordable and reliable wireless broadband communication.

In Point-to-Point (PtP) mode airPoint can provide as much as 25 Mbps of TCP/IP data throughput and range of up to 40 km. In Point-to-Multipoint (PtMP) mode airPoint can provide as much as 20 Mbps of TCP/IP data throughput, range of up to 12 km and support of up to 128 client devices. The Bandwidth Management, Voice, Data traffic prioritization, QoS, Video Multicast, User VLAN capability ensures reliable delivery of Voice over IP (VoIP), high definition video and prioritized data traffic, all “converged” over the radio access network.

Feature Highlights

Intelligent Networking Capabilities

Quality of Service (QoS) for traffic prioritization, User and Management VLAN capability and bandwidth management allows for increased Return on Investment with personalized Service Level Agreements (SLAs) offerings. QoS capabilities of the airPoint enable operators to optimize the performance and usage of the wireless network. The bandwidth management capability coupled with multiple service profiles allows individual time-of-day based upstream/downstream bandwidth allocation for each client.

Carrier Class Attributes

The purpose built airPoint incorporates electrical overstress protection to withstand harsh outdoor operating environments ranging from -49ºF to 140ºF (-45ºC to +60ºC) and very humid or very dry conditions. The IP65 outdoor rated UV stabilized plastic enclosure give added protection from environmental conditions.

The in-built Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) allows installation of redundancy in the network. The WatchGuard feature of the radio continuously monitors the device and performs an automatic recovery for realizing high system availability. The airPoint provides a unified Web and SNMP based remote device management interface. This allows for quick integration of the airPoint with the industry leading NMS solutions.

Quick and Easy Deployment

Field installation is expensive and time-consuming; therefore, the airPoint is designed for rapid out-of-the-box installation. The easy-to-use software makes setting up the network quick and cost-effective. The integrated high performance antenna is suitable for servicing most subscribers. External high gain antenna can be connected via the N-connector when added range is needed. This flexibility allows a single base station to meet a variety of subscriber installation requirements.

LongRange™ Performance that goes the Distance

airPoint features LongRange™ wireless design to deliver high data throughput and long operating range. smartBridges' superior design of the radio receiver enhances the sensitivity. The superior receiver and transmitter characteristics and parameter optimization for long range translates directly into lower wireless infrastructure cost when covering large area.

Antenna Options

The airPoint comes standard with an integrated high performance antenna, suitable for most applications. For longer distances or for higher data speeds, an optional higher gain antenna can be attached to the external antenna connector. This flexibility allows the radio to meet a variety of subscriber installation requirements.

Power over Ethernet (PoE) Support

The airPoint can be powered directly by 48V power supply available at the base station or with mains power through the Ethernet cable by using the PoE injector that is supplied as a standard accessory.

The model sB3215 is optimized for the 2.4 GHz operations while model sB3216 is available for 5.1-5.8 GHz operations.
