Flexible Dual Radio Configurations
Based on the award winning and field proven Nexus platform, this dual radio architecture provides operating mode flexibility and addresses RF link utilisation challenges faced by carriers. The dual radios can be used as two independent access points, thus providing large coverage by including more users. Each access point can be further configured in either Fully transparent Bridge, Router or NAT mode.
In Router mode, the radio provides Layer 3 edge router functionality and effectively segregates the network traffic, thus optimizing the RF link. When configured in NAT mode, it acts like an entry-level firewall, and helps hide the internal IP addresses. The cell extender mode helps extend the broadband connectivity from the primary wireless base station to a secondary base station or CPE. The dual radio airPoint2 Nexus PRO significantly improves the economies of wireless broadband deployments.
In addition, the WatchGuard feature continuously monitors the device and performs an automatic recovery, thereby realizing high system availability
Features to handle delay sensitive applications
The low latency and low jitter of the industrial-grade airPoint2 Nexus PRO provides reliable delivery of delay sensitive services including, Voice over IP (VoIP), high definition video and prioritized data traffic, all “converged” over a single robust wireless link. The advanced QoS capabilities of airPoint2 Nexus PRO enables operators to optimize the performance and usage of the wireless link, and offer differentiated Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for each service.
Secure Data Transmission and Efficient Network Management
The airPoint2 Nexus PRO employs state-of-the-art data encryption algorithms complying with the IEEE 802.11i standard to secure wireless data. In addition, wireless data can be encrypted with strong 128 bit AES that complies with FIPS 197 for US Federal Government applications. Adding on to these security functions, the airPoint2 Nexus PRO provides MAC and RADIUS based authentication methods.
The network administrator can monitor the status of all access points from a central NOC through the built-in web interface. The airPoint2 Nexus PRO is SNMPv2 compliant and can be integrated with third party network management software.
Carrier Class Attributes
The purpose built airPoint2 Nexus PRO with electrical overstress protection can withstand harsh outdoor operating environments, temperatures ranging from -49º F to 140º F (-45º C to +60º C) and very humid or dry conditions. The rust proof plenum rated metal enclosure with enclosed N-connectors give added protection from environmental conditions.
Quick and Easy Deployment
Field installation is expensive and time-consuming; therefore, the airPoint2 Nexus PRO is designed for rapid out-of-the-box installation. With the easy-to-use access point and simple-to-use software, the network can be set up rapidly and cost-effectively. For added performance, the certified Nexus antennas are specifically designed to optimize the radio performance. For Nexus certified antennas, click here.
