airPoint-PRO™ is a Wireless LAN access point for
802.11b standard based wireless LAN infrastructure. The
best way to cover a large area using airPoint-PRO™
and reducing the infra-structure cost is to locate the access
point on the ceiling at a central point. To ease installation
the airPoint-PRO™ is designed for ceiling or wall
mounting.
airPoint-PRO™’s
LongRange™ wireless design provides 100 mW radio power
(EIRP) to deliver High data throughput and long operating
range. smartBridges' superior design of the radio receiver
enhances the sensitivity to incredible -95 dBm level. Better
range translates directly into lower wireless infrastructure
cost when the need is to cover a large area.

The airPoint-PRO™ has
two identical antennae provided that are designed for phase diversity.
airPoint-PRO™ automatically selects the best signal. The diversity
improves the reliability of the access point substantially and cancels
the effects of RF fading in certain sections of the covered area.
airPoint-PRO™ can also
be used in a network bridge mode to interconnect two independent
LANs. When used in this configuration, normally 2 airPoint-PROs™
are wirelessly connected to each other.
To increase the data range
and ensure wireless network connectivity, airPoint™/PRO adopts
Dynamic Rate Scaling, thus always seeking to connect at 11 Mbps
then automatically scaling to 5.5 Mbps, as well as 2 Mbps and 1
Mbps. When the signal strength increases, its speed also increases
until it reaches the optimal rate, ensuring the highest level of
service and the best continuity for data transmission.
