smartBridges introduces PoE Outdoor™, a unique Power over Ethernet device for outdoor wireless installations. PoE Outdoor™ combines advanced protective and diagnostic features to bring unmatched convenience in wireless network deployment. With Ethernet port protection and NEC compliant surge protection, further enhanced by its weatherproof durability, the PoE Outdoor™ is a class apart from other available PoE products.

IEEE 802.3af standards compliant, the PoE Outdoor™ automatically senses the cable length and adjusts the output voltage to drive the equipment at the end of the cable. PoE Outdoor™ is designed to work with existing smartBridges PoE enabled products and will also support future product upgrades and next generation products.

Installation The PoE Outdoor can be mounted on a wall/pole. Inside the premises, the CAT5 cable can be connected to the PC/Hub and the RJ11 to a power source through the 48V adaptor. The CAT5 and the RJ11 cables can then be plugged onto the wall plate on the inside wall. The wall plate puts power on to the CAT5 cable - the RJ45 cable runs to the PoE Outdoor unit on the outside wall (only one wire). From the outdoor radio to the PoE Outdoor and from the PoE Outdoor to the Hub/PC or the wall power source, the total cable length can go up to 100m without compromising power supply or signal quality. The PoE Outdoor™ delivers required operating power and transmit data via the standard Category 5 Ethernet cable. It eliminates the need for a separate 110/220 volt AC cable to the radio and significantly reduces cabling and outlet requirements.

One of the biggest advantages of the PoE Outdoor™ is its compatibility to all IEEE 802.3af compliant equipment. Powered by an industry standard 48V AC/DC adaptor, the PoE Outdoor™ will provide sufficient power for devices connected up to 100m (328feet).
